How to find us
Russell Museum's entrance is located in York Street, one block back from the waterfront.
If you are arriving from Paihia on the passenger ferry you can find us by turning right at the end of the wharf and walking along The Strand (Russell's waterfront). Follow the signs directing you to the museum grounds and past our outdoor exhibits - the old wharf crane, carved pou, whalepots and bones, a whaleboat in its own shelter, painted wall panels, our Rongoa Maori garden and other native plantings - to the entrance.
If you are arriving by car look for us on your left as you reach town, just after Christ Church - it's the one with the bullet holes. Parking is readily available in an all-day car park next door.
