Collections

The function of the Museum is to collect and preserve, exhibit and interpret, and to undertake research on people and events in Russell's history. The time period covers pre-European Maori to the present day.

Major upgrades to Russell Museum have taken place from 2002. Richard Wolfe, specialist Museum design consultant, worked closely with Museum staff and Trustees to redevelop the interior displays, the new Marie King Gallery as well as the retail shop display area.

Recent enhancements include the addition of a whaleboat shelter and interpretation as well as landscaping of the grounds.

If you haven't visited Russell Museum recently, make sure you come and visit.
