Ailsa Murray

Ailsa Murray was elected to the board in 2010. Originally from Hawkes Bay, Ailsa came to Russell looking for a change of pace after five years of clothing design in London. Embracing the Russell lifestyle, she became a skipper for Fullers (now Great Sights) in 1978. After having travelled extensively, Ailsa finds the Russell ‘village’ a large family community that is special and unique.

Ailsa has also served with the Russell Ratepayers Association.

Keen to see Russell Museum prosper and continue to reflect the community into the future, Ailsa has a special interest in fostering the interest and engagement of younger generations. She credits her awareness of the treasures that Russell has, and the need to nurture, protect and promote them, as being her motivation for her trusteeship.

Her interests are reading, design and golf.
